History of Fingle Bridge:

The shelter was rebuilt in the 60's as a venue for functions and teas and originally only incorporated the restaurant and a small area of the bar. Subsequently, the larger area of the bar was added and gives lovely views of the river whilst maintaining a slightly 'olde worlde' feel.

Due to a reduction in the angling population, the pub was re-named the Fingle Bridge Inn and still retains Jesse's cream tea ethos with her original recipe still being used to bake scones on the premises - in 2007 these were voted the 'Best in Devon.' People have been known to travel from London to sample them!

Present day:

However, things move on! The Fingle Bridge now caters for locals and tourists in equal proportions. Its widely acclaimed Sunday carveries are extremely popular, as are its bar meals and of course, the cream teas. All of these can be eaten indoors or on the lovely outside terraces which look over the bridge and the river
